Sopoćani Monastery is located near the source of the Raška River, 17 km from Novi Pazar. This monastery is dedicated to the Holy Trinity and it was built by the Serbian King Stefan Uroš I (1243-1276).

It is estimated that the monastery was built around 1260 and since 1979 it has become the part of UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

The frescoes which can be found in the monastery represent a true masterpiece of art and they have brought the fame to Sopoćani years later. Today, this monastery is an important cultural monument of Serbia.
